An oblong bandage on the back of his head has fuelled fresh rumours about the health of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. This comes at a time when North Korea is dealing with unprecedented food shortages in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The health of Kim Jong Un (37) has been a topic of global fascination ever since he took over the reins following his father’s demise in 2011. Reports over the years have hinted that Kim Jong Un is a chain smoker.

It is widely acknowledged that Kim Jong Un’s health is one of the most closely guarded secrets in North Korea. In fact, North Korean agencies have been known to engage in counter-intellegence to quell rumours about the 37-year-old’s health.
In June of this year, state-run media cited a North Korean citizen as claiming that locals broke down in tears after seeing their leader Kim Jong Un, had suffered dramatic weight loss. This was after Kim Jong Un’s initial public appearances after a nearly month-long absence from the public eye.

However, neither the North Korean government nor the state-run media have addressed the recent rumours surrounding Kim Jong Un’s health.
Pyongyang has been demanding permission to export minerals and import refined oil and other essential items as a condition to resume dialogue with the US, reported Yonhap news agency.
Just recently, North Korea also issued a warning against joint military drills by the US and South Korea with Kim Jong Un’s sister saying that the actions could jeopardize talks with Seoul.
