Maharashtra health department said that a total of 65 cases of Delta Plus variant have been reported from in the state so far. While the figure was at 45 on August 8, Twenty new cases have now been added, of which seven were reported in Mumbai, three cases in Pune and rest in six other districts.
Of the total cases, Jalgaon district has recorded the maximum at 13, followed by 12 cases in Ratnagiri and 11 cases in Mumbai. Thirty-two of the 65 Delta Plus variant cases in the state are men, 33 are women, while seven are below the age of 18.

The state health department said, “This genetic sequencing test shows that delta variants are found in more than 80 per cent of the samples in the state out of which 65 samples were positive for Delta Plus. Except for one death in Ratnagiri district, the rest of the cases Delta Plus are mild to moderately ill”.
The Maharashtra government has entered into an agreement with the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, a laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, to expedite the genetic sequencing survey.
